Blake Ellender Lively was born in California in a family of actors and acting coaches. Her parents used to teach acting at an acting school, which is where she was introduced to the nuances of the acting world. But it turned out that she did not care much for acting until her actor brother Eric Lively got her an audition for ‘The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants’ in 2005. In September 2007, CW offered Lively a meaty role of ‘Serena Van der Woodsen’ in the teleseries ‘Gossip Girl’. The series was an adaptation of the book with same title, written by Cecily von Ziegesar. The teen drama ran until 2012, portraying the life of rich youngsters of New York.
In 2009, Lively did a small role in the movie ‘New York, I Love You’, which was a sequel to the film ‘Paris, je t’aime (2006). The film did not do very well at the box office but her performance in the movie was appreciated.
